A responsibly bred puppy is about planning, care, and consistent work behind the scenes.

It Starts With Our Dogs

At Lone Tree Bernese, we focus first on the dogs we raise as our family pets; selected for calm temperaments, strong structure, and verified health records. Pairings are thoughtfully planned to reduce future health risks and give each puppy the best possible start.

Health Testing Is Essential

Health testing protects both our puppies and the families who welcome them home. We screen for hip and elbow health, genetic conditions common in Bernese Mountain Dogs, and overall physical soundness. These important steps help prevent avoidable surprises and reflects our commitment to long-term wellbeing.

Early Socialization Shapes Confidence

From the beginning, our puppies are handled daily and introduced to sounds, movement, children, adults and other animals. They are groomed, bathed, spend time in a crate and go for vehicle rides. This early exposure builds confidence, reduces stress, and helps our puppies transition smoothly into their new homes.

Training Starts Early

Good habits don’t happen by chance. We introduce early routines, gentle boundaries, and foundational manners so our puppies learn faster, feel more secure, and adapt easily once they leave us. Most puppies will have been introduced to basic commands such as “sit”, “come”, and “down.”

Environment Matters

Our puppies are raised in clean, structured spaces with room to move, proper nutrition, and constant care. All puppies spend their first month in our home before moving outdoors to our heated (when needed) “puppy barn” with a large outdoor run. Puppies are still handled and trained daily including ample free-range time under supervision and the watchful eye of Mom. This environment supports healthy development and helps puppies grow into confident dogs that trust people.

Transparency

We welcome questions and provide clear information about feeding routines, veterinary care, training basics, and daily life. All prospective homes are welcome to visit us. We also take time to learn about each family, because the right match and top-notch homes are paramount to us.

Ongoing Support

Our responsibility doesn’t end when a puppy goes home. We offer ongoing guidance and honest support, so families feel confident and our puppies continue to thrive.

Protecting the Breed We Love

Bernese Mountain Dogs (like most purebreds) can face real health challenges. Through careful breeding decisions, health testing, and thoughtful placements, we work to reduce inherited issues, preserve stable temperaments, and contribute positively to the future of the breed.

The Bottom Line

Choosing a puppy is a long-term commitment. Lone Tree Bernese are raised to adjust well, train easily, and form deep bonds with their families. That outcome begins with the choices we make every day and we know you will fall in love your new family member!
